Vital Delivery Solutions Expands Into Greater Boston, Opens Woburn Location

The Northeast courier opens its first standalone location in Massachusetts after winning a competitive RFP for Tufts Medicine’s courier work

WOBURN, Mass. — August 24, 2026 — Vital Delivery Solutions, a logistics and courier company serving the Northeast since 1987, has opened a new location at 215 Salem St. in Woburn, Massachusetts, extending its same-day and STAT delivery network into the greater Boston area. The opening follows a competitive RFP process in which Vital was awarded Tufts Medicine’s courier work.

The Woburn facility gives Vital a physical base to service Tufts Medicine and other greater Boston clients directly, adding to a footprint that already spans Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. It marks the company’s entry into Massachusetts as the Northeast courier continues to grow its healthcare logistics business across the region.

“Winning the Tufts Medicine business through a competitive process is a real vote of confidence in how we run this company,” said Matt Kozlowski, CEO of Vital Delivery Solutions. “Opening in Woburn means we’ve got drivers, vehicles, and dispatch right there in the market. That’s what it takes to earn a major health system’s trust and keep it.”

Tufts Medicine selected Vital after evaluating multiple logistics providers through a formal RFP process, the kind of scrutiny health systems increasingly apply to delivery partners handling time-sensitive, regulated material.

For Vital, winning the business is a validation of its HIPAA-compliant chain-of-custody protocols, STAT response times, and a driver network built specifically around hospital and lab workflows. The contract shows that one of the most renowned health care systems in the country trusts Vital’s fleet, trained W-2 drivers, and track record of exceptional service to handle the entire health system’s deliveries.

Vital’s medical couriers move lab specimens, pharmaceuticals, and medical supplies for health systems across the Northeast, operating around the clock, 365 days a year. The Woburn location will support Tufts Medicine’s courier needs alongside the company’s broader push into Massachusetts and greater Boston.

Vital Delivery Solutions Opens Bangor Facility, Its Third in Maine

The 6,000-square-foot location on Hammond Street follows the company’s move into an 11,040-square-foot facility in Scarborough and extends same-day delivery coverage into northern Maine

BANGOR, Maine, DATEVital Delivery Solutions, a logistics and courier company serving the Northeast since 1987, opened a delivery facility at 1161 Hammond St. in Bangor, its seventh location overall and its third in Maine, extending the Northeast courier’s same-day and next-day delivery network into the northern half of the state.

The Bangor site anchors the third phase of a Maine buildout that began in 2021, when Vital acquired General Courier of Portland. The company then moved its southern Maine operation into an 11,040-square-foot facility at 107 Pleasant Hill Road in Scarborough, a warehouse with loading docks and drive-in access in one of the region’s established industrial corridors. About 70 of Vital’s 400 employees work out of Scarborough.

“Maine is a large state with a lot of miles to cover,” said Matt Kozlowski, CEO of Vital Delivery Solutions. “Our Bangor location puts drivers, vehicles, and a dispatch point closer to northern Maine to ensure our customers get faster STAT response and same-day coverage.”

Initial hiring in Bangor includes an operations manager and drivers, with five to ten employees expected at open. The facility supports healthcare routes, banking deliveries, office supply distribution, and residential shipments across the Bangor region.

Healthcare remains the largest share of Vital’s business. The company’s medical couriers move lab specimens, pharmaceuticals, and medical supplies for clients including Tufts Medicine, the University of Vermont Health Network, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, and Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Vital runs a fleet of 250 company vehicles and has grown revenue every year for the past decade. The company was founded in Vermont in 1987 as Green Mountain Messenger with a single route, expanded across the northeast, and rebranded as Vital Delivery Solutions in 2021.

Vital Delivery Solutions Acquires General Courier of Portland, Maine

The deal brings a 45-year-old Maine courier into the newly renamed Vital network and marks the company’s first operating location in the state

WILLISTON, Vt., and PORTLAND, Maine, July DATE, 2021Vital Delivery Solutions, a logistics and courier company serving the Northeast since 1987, has acquired General Courier, a South Portland-based courier serving Maine since 1976.

The acquisition gives Vital its first Maine location and a 45-year-old book of same-day delivery business in the Portland market. General Courier, known locally as “the General,” began as a Portland-area delivery service and grew its fleet and coverage across the region over four and a half decades. General Courier’s routes, customers, and drivers join the Vital network.

The deal lands alongside a company milestone. Green Mountain Messenger, founded in Vermont in 1987 with a single delivery route, rebranded as Vital Delivery Solutions this month to reflect what the company has become: a mission-critical transportation provider for healthcare systems, laboratories, blood banks, pharmacies, banks, and businesses across the Northeast.

“General Courier built something we respect — 45 years of showing up on time for the same customers, some of them since the seventies,” said Matt Kozlowski, CEO of Vital Delivery Solutions. “We’re not buying routes on a map. We’re bringing on drivers who know every dock and loading bay in Portland, and we’re backing them with a bigger fleet, more coverage, and 24/7 dispatch. Maine customers keep the service they trust and gain everything behind it.”

For customers, the combination means broader reach, deeper capacity, and better technology. Vital operates around-the-clock, 365 days a year, with a fleet spanning cars, cargo vans, sprinters, and lift-gate box trucks, plus climate-controlled warehousing in Vermont and New Hampshire. General Courier customers gain access to that full network, including STAT medical courier service and next-day coverage across Vermont, New Hampshire, and now Maine. We’re also backing up General Courier’s service with Vital’s best-in-class technology to give customers more transparency and a better experience tracking their shipment from request to final signature.

The acquisition sets up the next phase of Vital’s Maine growth, with plans to expand its footprint and hiring in the state.
