In 1987, Vital Delivery Solutions began operating a single delivery route out of Vermont under the name Green Mountain Messenger. Over the next four decades, that route became a network. Today, we run more than 300 daily routes with 400+ W-2 employee drivers across Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New York. Through organic growth and strategic acquisitions, we’ve expanded from a single Vermont route into the Northeast’s most established courier and logistics operation.
We are still based in Vermont. And we still operate the same way we did at the beginning: Show up, do the work, and earn the next day’s business.
What we do
Vital is a full-service courier and logistics company specializing in healthcare logistics, same-day delivery, warehousing, critical parts storage, and fleet outsourcing.
Our core market is healthcare, serving hospitals, health systems, pharmacies, commercial labs, and specialty medical providers across the Northeast. We also offer general courier services for businesses in distribution, manufacturing, auto parts, and related industries.
What connects it all is the model. W-2 employee drivers, 24/7 operations, real-time tracking, and a management team that answers the phone.
We made a decision early on that we would never build our business around independent contractors. Every Vital driver is a W-2 employee who is uniformed, ID-badged, driving a branded Vital vehicle, and managed by our operations team. All drivers complete HIPAA, OSHA, and DOT compliance training during onboarding.
We see value in managing employee drivers. It’s a better business model that produces higher service levels. By choosing to focus on employee-based drivers, our management team can better train, manage, and hold our people accountable, and that translates directly into better service for our clients.

Matt has spent more than two decades building Vital Delivery Solutions from the ground up, working his way up from driver to owner and CEO. Under Matt’s leadership, Vital has grown from a regional Vermont courier into the Northeast’s most established medical courier and logistics provider. Having done the work himself at every level, Matt built a company where exceptional standards guide every decision, shape every service, and attract a dedicated team.

The W-2 model gives us direct control over hiring, training, and performance. Every driver completes our full onboarding program — including HIPAA, OSHA, and DOT compliance training — and operates a company-owned vehicle under Vital management.
Independent contractors use their own vehicles, set their own schedules, and operate with limited oversight from the company that dispatched them. For clients moving lab specimens, controlled substances, or time-sensitive parts, that difference in accountability is significant.
